Living with Purpose and Faith Every Day

Living with purpose and faith transforms our daily experiences. Faith isn't a card we play from the deck when we feel like it or when circumstances are perfect - if that were the case, you'd probably rarely draw that card. It's a daily choice, beyond feeling, beyond emotions, beyond understanding. Stepping into each day knowing without a shadow of a doubt that we are entering into it with God-given purpose is what keeps us going. Even if you're flailing a bit on what exactly that purpose is, which, trust me, I've been there, that deep knowing that God created you on purpose, for a purpose, is one of the most vital mantras you can possibly get into your soul and mind... and one we must speak to our children daily.

Faith-Filled Living: A Real Connection with God

Faith-filled living isn’t just a checklist of attending church or hanging a scripture verse over the mantle. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s about showing up every day with an open heart and a willingness to engage with the Holy Spirit. It’s in the everyday moments—when life throws challenges our way—that we can model this intimacy for our children. This is what truly instills a connection with God in our families.

If you're not genuine about the ups and downs of your journey, your kids will notice that. Likewise, if you're demonstrating authentic faith during those highs and lows, they'll not only see it, but also use it as their guide when navigating difficult times.

Modeling Faith for Our Children

When we live with faith, we create an environment where our children can witness real spiritual struggles and victories. It’s not about pretending everything is perfect or having all the answers; it’s about being authentic in our walk with God, especially when circumstances go beyond what we understand. Our children need to see us grapple with doubt, seek comfort in prayer, and find strength in community. This is how they learn to navigate their own spiritual journeys.

Everyday Practices that Foster Connection

Starting each day with gratitude can be a powerful practice. It’s not just about listing things we’re thankful for; it’s about shifting our focus from what’s wrong to what’s right, even when life is tough. Creating a morning ritual that includes moments of reflection, prayer, or simply being present in nature can help us ground ourselves in our faith. Putting God at the forefront of our conversations, digging deep into tough questions, and being real and raw about what it's looked like for you to encounter the Holy Spirit... these practices show our children that faith isn’t confined to a Sunday service; it’s woven into the fabric of our daily lives.

Long-Term Spiritual Success

Ultimately, it’s this kind of faith-filled living that sets our children up for spiritual success later in life. When they see us engaging with God and the Holy Spirit in the midst of our everyday struggles, they learn that faith is not just about rules or routines; it’s about relationship and a spiritual legacy. It’s about being real with God and with each other, and that’s what will carry them through their own challenges as they grow.

This isn't a one-and-done conversation; it's a true lifestyle, and it isn't too late to start, right now, my friend. There is so much grace for you, and Jesus is longing for your family to step into this next chapter with Him.

Sowing Purpose and Faith in Our Children

Living out our faith and purpose isn't just about personal growth; it's about sowing seeds in the lives of our children.

They are watching us, learning from our actions, and absorbing the values we embody.

Here are some gritty, real-life practices that can help us instill a sense of purpose and faith in our children:

  1. Set Daily Intentions Together: Start each day as a family by setting intentions that resonate with your values. Instead of just saying "I choose joy," discuss what that looks like in your lives. Encourage your children to express their own intentions, fostering a sense of ownership over their daily choices.

  2. Engage in Community as a Family: Get involved in your local church and serve, not simply to check a spiritual obligation off your list but to grow in healthy and real community. We're called to action, and action begets connection. It’s not just about helping others; it’s about creating shared memories and understanding the impact of faith in action. Remember, no church is perfect because people are there, and people aren't perfect. That’s why we need a perfect Savior!

  3. Pray as a Family: Come together for a dedicated time for prayer each day. Share concerns, express gratitude, and seek guidance as a family. This will strengthen your family's spiritual bond and deepen your collective faith and reliance on God.

  4. Reflect on Your Day Honestly: At the end of each day, gather as a family to share highs and lows. Encourage open dialogue about what went well and what didn’t. Remember, you're not there to fix everything, but rather to practice authentic presence and empathy. This not only reinforces accountability but also helps children see that growth comes from both success and failure.

These practices aren't just routines - they are life-giving rhythms! They are lifelines that help us and our children navigate the complexities of life with purpose and faith. By living authentically and sharing our struggles and triumphs, we sow seeds of resilience and belief in their hearts.

By focusing on these practices, you can contribute positively to the lives of others, ensuring your legacy of faith resonates through generations.

Living intentionally with faith is a journey filled with both challenges and blessings. Each moment provides an opportunity to connect deeper with ourselves, those around us, and our greater purpose.

It's not about perfectionism, it's about presence, purpose, and pouring it out authentically, as a beautiful offering to Jesus, and doing so together.
